Warden of the First Tree is a Green Creature with activated abilities that require either White or Black mana.  You can still play those abilities in a single colored Green Deck if you have a Pulse of Llanowar and/or dual lands (Savannah or Bayou) available.  These activated abilities are what makes this Warden a formidable creature and not having the White or Black mana to use them pretty much defeats the purpose of having this guy in your deck:

• For 2 mana (1 of which must be Black or White), the Warden becomes a 3/3 Human Warrior.
• If the Warden is currently a Warrior, then for 4 mana (2 of which must be Black or White) it becomes a Human Spirit Warrior with Trample and Lifelink.
• If the Warden is currently a Spirit, then for 6 mana (3 of which must be Black or White) it gains 5 +1/+1 counters which makes it 8/8 now by default.  (If you have a Doubling Season, also a green card, you can double those counters making it 13/13 with trample!)

Final Thoughts
