Vampiric Tutor lets you search your library for any card and put it in your hand for the cost of 1 black mana and 2 life.  It works much like a Demonic Tutor except for the slightly lower casting cost, the loss of 2 life, and the fact that it’s an Instant.  This is especially useful if you need to get your hands on, say, a Counterspell or an Unsummon in an emergency during your opponent’s turn whereas you can’t with the Demonic Tutor because it’s a Sorcery.

 

 

This card, like most tutors, is Restricted

 

 

Vampiric Tutor has been restricted since 1998 according to this list but you can include just ONE of them in your deck.  However, you can still include one of any of the other tutors on that list as well.  Or use Grim Tutor which is not restricted in Vintage (but beware of its higher casting cost.)

Final Thoughts
