Granite Gargoyle is a 2/3 Red flying creature with a casting cost of only 3.  In addition, by inflating it with red mana, you can give it +0/+1 for every 1 red mana spent.  If you have enough red mana, you can theoretically inflate this gargoyle up to the point where it can block most creatures successfully.  And even ignoring its capability to be inflated, it’s still a decent creature for its relatively cheap casting cost.  This is almost the antithesis of a Dragon Whelp which can only have its power further inflated.
